One quick thing before we begin, what is WOTC?
WOTC stands for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, which is a federal tax credit provided to employers who hire individuals from certain target groups who have historically faced barriers to employment. The target groups include veterans, ex-felons, food stamp recipients, and others who are considered to be disadvantaged in the job market. The WOTC program provides a financial incentive for employers to hire these individuals and provide them with job opportunities. The credit is a percentage of the employeeâs first-year wages and is claimed on the employerâs tax return. The goal of the WOTC program is to encourage employers to hire individuals from target groups who may have difficulty finding employment, helping them to become self-sufficient and reducing the burden on government assistance programs.
What CURTIS Digital did
NetTax is a leading provider of tax-related services, offering a wide range of services to clients across the country. With a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, NetTax was looking for a way to streamline its WOTC (Work Opportunity Tax Credit) process and improve its efficiency. CURTIS Digital was engaged to help NetTax achieve its goals.
The WOTC Portal project was designed to capture employee data via an online survey and analyze employee responses to determine eligibility for the WOTC program. The project involved capturing employee data and analyzing it to determine eligibility for the WOTC program. The CURTIS Digital team worked closely with NetTax to design and implement the online survey and developed a custom algorithm to analyze employee responses and determine eligibility.
One of the key benefits of the WOTC Portal was the ability to submit eligible employees to states in the format each state requires. With new requirements for each state, the CURTIS Digital team created a generic adapter for the client to log into a state portal and upload the .txt file for states we donât have adapters created. The CURTIS Digital team also created state specific adapters that allow NetTax to log in as an actual user, navigate to a specific page, and upload the .txt file, making the process much easier and more efficient. Automation at its best!
The WOTC Portal project has been a huge success, delivering a number of benefits to NetTax, including improved efficiency, increased accuracy, and reduced manual effort. The online survey and custom algorithm enabled NetTax to more easily and quickly determine employee eligibility for the WOTC program, and the adapters created by CURTIS Digital allowed NetTax to submit eligible employees to states with ease.
Overall, the WOTC Portal project was a great example of how CURTIS Digitalâs expertise in technology and taxes helped a client achieve its goals. With a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, CURTIS Digital delivered a customized solution that drove results for NetTax, helping the company take its business to the next level.
